No we don’t mean ‘alternative mother’ in this way

When we were younger we always used to give our mothers letters, handmade cards or a picture, perhaps through a lack of money or sheer imagination. Yet as we’ve grown up Mother’s Day has become extremely commercialised, with the standard gifts across the country being a moonpig card (yes we’re singing the theme tune too) and some already doomed cut flowers.
